Monks Porter House

The Monks Porter House is located deep underground in a 17th century bricked cave network in the Gamla stan district in central Stockholm. An appropriate setting for a good gastropub.

This is what I had for dinner: hash of beef and potato, pickles, egg yolk, and beets. Bears eat beets. Bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica. That, and a fantastic beer: Bell's Expedition Stout (2009). It tasted like what I imagine the huge, hearty meal one might consume just prior to embarking on an epic expedition two hundred years ago would taste like. The result of pure brewing skill. Everyone should try this beer at least once in their lifetime. Unbelievable. Of course, it might take a lifetime to find a bottle of it.
