The architectural design and implementation of the Temppeliaukion Church impressed me, and by the time I was due to depart Helsinki, had become my favorite architectural work in the city. It is carved directly into rock, with unfinished rock surfaced left exposed throughout. Abundant natural light is provided by the brilliant copper and glass ceiling. Google it for a bird's eye view of the site.
This is the entrance.

Looking up at the ceiling.
