Rīga - Jūrmala

Arrived in Rīga, checked into my B&B and was looking forward to some beach time.

My B&B was spacious and interesting, and was in a very old, centrally located building.



Spent a day hanging out at Majori beach in Jūrmala. Weather was nice, and the beaches had white quartz sand.

The 2011 Latvian Beach Vollyball Championship was underway at the time.



It is only a 20 minute train ride from the Central Market area to the pristine beaches at Jurmala and the Baltic Sea. Majori beach was my favorite among them.









I think I'm actually starting to get a tan. All the café time, I suppose.









All this walking got me hungry. Found a good Italian restaurant right on Majori beach called Il Sole. Good Italian food in a beautiful setting... and reasonably priced.
