Mostar, Bosnia-Hercegovina

Enjoyed immensely my visit to Mostar in Bosnia-Hercegovina. This is the most exotic place that I have ever been to. The people seemed really nice.

Interesting fragments of buildings obliterated.

The Mostar bridge. Local macho men were diving from the apex.

Climbed to the top of this narrow tower of one of the mosques to take this photo of the Mostar bridge. Very tight, steep, claustrophobia-inducing, rail-less, continuous spiral marble staircase. At the top, the guardwall was unusually short, maybe 30 inches tall. Felt a bit uneasy up there.

The same mosque on the inside.

The tourist trinkets that were for sale in the streets were actually interesting hand-made items very little of which I would call cheesy. Large copper shell casings worked into decorative items, 19th century portable coffee grinders, sabers, bracelets, et cetera.

Visited this 17th century all-original Turkish house. The spaces had a great feel to them. Loved it.

The war that tool place here in the early 90s left ugly scars still visible today. Buildings peppered with bullet craters and shell damage. It is shameful that such a beautiful place could be shelled.
