Modica

We hired a tired Fiat from an old local racing hero in Ragusa for a few days in order to visit some of the interesting little nearby towns. The first town we went to was Modica (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). The Italian language sounds very different in
Sicilia.

It was very hot, and after a while Beethoven and I became quite thirsty, so we headed to the first place we saw that seemed like it had bottled water. Turns out that this place was a working-man's bar, and the half-dozen regular patrons befriended us immediately, bought us a couple drinks, and made us feel right at home. They only spoke Italian.
