café In de Vrede

Borrowed a bicycle from my B&B and peddled the pilgrimage to Sint-Sixtusabdij and the café In de Vrede in Westvleteren today. It was a lovely sunny afternoon. Throughout the 6 km journey I was flanked by beautiful traditional farmland and the occasional old house or cathedral. The bicycle had been fitted with a child seat, which came in handy to transport beer back from In de Vrede.

There was a flash tornado that touched down in the patio at In de Vrede about 5m in front of me, which uprooted one of the shade umbrellas straight into the air and out of site. It returned to the earth a few seconds later, umbrella-end first.

After contemplating the true meaning of this sign, I decided I could wait until I got back to my B&B.

Something interesting I saw along the way. I'm not sure either.

This is me in front of the beer pick-up point at Sint-Sixtusabdij.
